The Queensferry Crossing forms the centrepiece of a major upgrade to the cross-Forth transport corridor in the east of Scotland, representing a total Scottish Government investment of over £1.3 billion. Ramboll led the Design Joint Venture on the project, and commissioned this film to illustrate their role and to celebrate the construction of the UK’s tallest bridge.

This project involved myself, a camera operator and a producer back at base, as well as a project manager and presenter from the client’s side. I developed a plan for the film’s style based on its striking locations. I was then able to further shape this in post-production as the editor.

With the vast scale of the structure we used the combination of super wide and extreme telephoto focal lengths to repeatedly expand and compress the space. We also used a variety of camera movements; tripod pans, dolly slides as well as using the view from a moving boat to capture unique angles of the crossing.
